Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, and born May 17th, 1865, Mr. Pelzer first came to Birmingham in the 1890s and then moved to Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 23. He was the son of an "outstanding industrialist and cotton mill owner." Mr. Pelzer was a large holder of real estate, President of the Alabama Machinery and Supply Co., and a director of the First National Bank.
